DEATH BY DISHWASHER -- A woman climbed into a portable dishwasher, closed the door and died when the machine started up. The death of Carolyn M. Matsumoto, 25, was ruled a suicide by Alameda County Coroner's deputies. She died of scalding and asphyxiation. Federal safety officials and industry representatives said it was believed to be the first time anyone had died inside a dishwasher.
